Some clinical settings have age restrictions that may limit shadowing opportunities for high school students. We are here to help navigate those boundaries and connect you with the right experience, and our Resources page has additional pathways to explore in the meantime.
  • UCSF HealthLink Program – A School of Medicine program for first‑generation high school students who are interested in health careers.

  • HealthPATH at Highland Hospital - Offers a range of career exploration programs that introduce students to job opportunities in the healthcare field, including shadowing doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

  • Stanford Medical Youth Science Program (SMYSP) - A prestigious five-week residential program for first-generation, low-income high school juniors from Northern California that includes clinical shadowing, public health research, and college preparation support.

  • John Muir Health Student Programs - John Muir Health offers a range of student opportunities for young people interested in pursuing careers in healthcare, with programs focused on diverse populations and encouraging underrepresented students to consider healthcare career pathways.

  • La Clínica de La Raza - A community-based health center with volunteer and career exploration opportunities across 35 sites in the East Bay, welcoming students interested in gaining exposure to community healthcare settings.
